FIFA Appeals Committee Partially Upholds Brazil-Argentina Dispute

On 9 May 2022, the FIFA Appeal Committee announced its decisions on the appeals lodged by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and the Argentinian Football Association (AFA) in the context of the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers between both representative teams in September 2021.

On 5 September 2021, the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier between the national representative teams of Brazil and Argentina was suspended five minutes after kick-off after several Brazilian health officials came onto the pitch to escort four Argentine footballers away. All these Argentine players were employed by English Premier League clubs.
