AFA, CBF and FIFA have settled their dispute before CAS


On 16 August 2022, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) released a public statement announcing that it had reached a settlement agreement with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and FIFA before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). According to the said settlement, the postponed Brazil-Argentina match of September 2021 would be definitely canceled.

On 5 September 2021, the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier between the national representative teams of Brazil and Argentina was suspended five minutes after kick-off after several Brazilian health officials came onto the pitch to escort four Argentine footballers away (see below to get more information about each of the individual players). All these Argentine players were employed by English Premier League clubs.
