Football Agent Regulations: FIFA Reacts to German Court Injunction

On 8 September 2023, FIFA officially announced its position regarding the injunction filed against the FIFA Football Agent Regulations (FFAR) by a German Court (24 May 2023). Accordingly, the applicability of the FFAR in Germany and Germany-related transfers is subject to a series of exceptions detailed in this article.

Legal proceedings and its consequences

On 26 May 2023, the Court of Justice of the European Union received a request for a preliminary ruling in Case C-209/23. This request was submitted by the Ninth Civil Chamber of the Landgericht Mainz (District Court of Mainz, Germany) in the case brought by an agent and RRC Sports GmbH against FIFA.
