
In August 2021, Football Legal announced that FIFPRO had applauded a legislative initiative from the Football Union of Russia (FUR) aimed at protecting football players from suffering the direct consequences of match-fixing incidents.[1]
These developments followed the story of a group of players registered with FC Chayka, a Russian club that was relegated from the Russian Football National League 1 (FNL-1 - the second tier) to Football National League 2 (FNL-2 – the third tier) as a punishment for being involved in the fixing of matches in 2018.
