Mr. Edgars Gauračs (Appellant), then General Director of FK Spartaks Jurmala (Latvia), was sanctioned by the UEFA Appeals Body in February 2022 for a breach of Article 12 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (UEFA DR). The Appellant was sanctioned with a ban from exercising any football-related activity for three years for this breach of the rules governing integrity of matches, competitions and match-fixing, a reduction from the ten-year sanction initially pronounced by the UEFA Control Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB). The UEFA sanction stemmed from approaches made to the Appellant in respect of both the first leg (Match 1) and second leg (Match 2) of a two-legged UEFA Champions League qualifying tie against FK Crvena Zvezda.
