UEFA Issues Decision on AEK Athens and Dinamo Zagreb Incidents


On 19 August 2023, following the violent outcome of the 2023-2024 Champions League third qualifying round, canceled match opposing AEK Athens (Greece) to Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia), UEFA decided to ban Dinamo Zagreb from attending away fixtures due to the said clashes resulting in a dead fan.

Due to eventual security threats, the transfer of Dinamo Zagreb fans from Croatia to Greece was not authorized. Notwithstanding this, a group of between 100 and 120 Croatian ultras arrived in Greece on 7 August 2023 in several private cars.
