During the COVID-19 pandemic, the world has been faced with enormous upheavals and challenges, which have forced us all to adapt and solve problems that had never been faced before. Professional football, of course, has not escaped these circumstances, which have forced us to seek new solutions and face unsuspected conflicts.

With regard to the serious disorders generated - at the beginning - by the COVID-19 pandemic, many countries issued emergency regulations to try to regulate the complexities that meant a lengthy stoppage of the usual activities and its social, health, legal, commercial and other consequences.

In Chile, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Law no. 21.227 was enacted, which regulated the suspension of the work contract in cases in which a company was affected as a consequence of the measures adopted by the health authority to face the pandemic, and as a counterpart of such suspension, the activation of severance insurance that covered part of the workers’ compensation during the said period.
