In Paraguay, the employment relationship of professional football players is regulated by Law 5.322/14, “which establishes the Statute of the Professional Football Players in Paraguay.” In this paper, we will briefly describe the grounds for termination of the employment contract between professional footballers and their clubs, and we will analyze the economic consequences very carefully when the termination occurs because of a unilateral breach committed by the club.
