The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) recently put an end to the four-year dispute between FC Tyumen and its players and ruled on the validity of the Bonus Regulations, signed by an unauthorized person.

Facts of the case

 

Since 2013, all the Appellants, professional football players (the Players), were employed by FC Tyumen (the Club).

At that time, the Club was competing in the third professional football league of Russia.

According to the Employment Contracts, upon the Club’s discretion, each Player was entitled to receive bonuses for the achievement of sports results in compliance with the Club’s regulations on bonuses (the Bonus Regulations).

The Club issued the Bonus Regulations for the 2013-2014 season; however, the Bonus Regulations were only approved by the Head Coach of the team, who was not legally authorized to issue such sort of documents on behalf of the Club.
