UEFA Decides to Abandon Match after Terror Attack


On 19 October 2023, the European football's governing body decided that the European qualifier for the EURO 2024 opposing the national representative teams of Belgium and Sweden in Brussels would be declared abandoned after a terror attack that cost the lives of two Swedish supporters. The UEFA Executive Committee also decided that no UEFA-organized competition match will be played in Israel until further notice due to the current geopolitical situation.

It is worth noting that, already on 8 October 2023, UEFA decided to postpone all matches scheduled in Israel in the next couple of weeks. For instance, it
