CAS 2020/A/7594 FK Rigas Futbola Skola v. Latvian Football Federation, Biedriba FK Liepaja and Riga FC

This story would be an ordinary one, unless the result of the match under the dispute were not so significant for the losing club: the Champion's title was at stake. The interrupted match had voluntarily been replayed from the beginning, following which the losing club made an unsuccessful attempt to get the match declared lost by the opponent team by forfeit.

Facts of the case

On 17 October 2020, FK Liepaja, as the home team, and FK RFS, as the away team, played a match in the Latvian top division at the Daugava Stadium in the city of Liepaja - the home stadium of FK Liepaja, but owned by the company SIA "ОС LIEPAJA."

FK Liepaja was winning 1:0 when the stadium lights went out during the second half of the match.
