On 28 July 2026, FIFA announced a new initiative, the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), to better manage its commercial rights, including broadcasting, sponsorship, ticket sales and licensing. However, many actors in the football world expressed hesitation regarding this proposal, with UEFA at the forefront. A few days later, on 31 July 2026, FIFA announced that it would not move forward with the FFE scheme, while keeping an intention to bring it up again before the football stakeholders community.
FIFA’s Initial Proposal
The FFE was planned to be a FIFA subsidiary consolidating its commercial and event operations while retaining control over football governance. Therefore, it aimed to raise up to USD 4.2 billion in 2027 (approx. EUR 3.7 billion), with an initial equity valuation of USD 20 billion (approx. EUR 17.5 billion), by attracting long-term investors for minority, non-controlling stakes. According to FIFA, all profits were to be reinvested in football globally.
