UEFA has launched a wide-ranging consultation on the future of its club competitions. As the body representing clubs participating in these competitions, ECA has an important role to play in any outcome(s) that may emerge. Can you share with us ECA’s views on why reform may be required and what issues with the current system need addressing?
Let me begin by just stating that we do not seek reform for reform’s sake. As the saying goes, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. However, at this moment in time, we believe that the current system is not serving the wider interests of European club football at every level.
