In a Nutshell
By decision of 18 March 2024, the Swiss Federal Tribunal (SFT) dismissed an appeal lodged by a football club affiliated to the Egyptian Football Association (Appellant or Club) against an award passed by the CAS on 11 October 2023 (CAS 2021/A/8512) in the context of an employment-related dispute against a Franco-Moroccan player (Player or Respondent).
The Appellant alleged that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) had ruled extra petita by altering the nature of the compensation and ultra petita by awarding compensation greater than the amount claimed.
Both arguments were rejected by the SFT.[1]
