Several Football Events Postponed Due to Coronavirus Outbreak


Since February 2020, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has released several official statements announcing that the 2020 AFC Futsal Championship was postponed due to the novel coronavirus outbreak in Asia. Several AFC Cup 2020 group stage matches involving AFC East Asian Zone clubs were also postponed. On 23 February 2020, four Serie A matches were called off due to an outbreak in Italy.

The AFC announced that the 2020 AFC Futsal Championship that was scheduled to be played in Turkmenistan from 26 February to 8 March was postponed, due to the coronavirus outbreak in several Asian countries. The football governing body of Asia stressed its intention to continuously monitor the outbreak and release new competition dates when the situation stabilizes.
