Facts and Procedure

On 24 February 2022, a military conflict involving Russia and Ukraine started to unfold in Ukraine. Due to this, the European Council and the Council of Europe condemned these military actions.

On 25 February 2022, the United Nations Security Council attempted to adopt a Resolution on Ending the Ukraine Crisis, which the Russian Federation vetoed.

On the same day, the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) issued a statement recommending that all International Sports Federations cancel any sporting event that would take place in Russia.
