Rafa Mir: One Judgement – Three Clubs

On 15 June 2026, the Valencia Provincial Court handed down its judgment sentencing Elche CF player Rafa Mir to eight and a half years’ imprisonment, together with compensation amounting to EUR 84,000 payable to the victim, for sexual assault. This article will mostly focus on the sporting side of things, without entering into the criminal legal battle. It should be noted that the decision of the Valencia Provincial Court can be appealed to the Valencia High Court.

The criminal conduct in question occurred in September 2024, when the Murcian striker was playing for Valencia CF, which was also on loan from the Andalusian club. This article does not seek to assess either the conduct itself or the merits of the judgment. Rafa Mir remains under contract with Sevilla FC for one additional season.
