BFDS reports constitute convincing evidence that a match has been manipulated. However, when assessing the participation of a player or group of players in a match-fixing scheme, additional evidence is needed.

Facts and Procedure

 

On 29 April 2017, the Player was playing as goalkeeper for Athlone Town AFC in their match against Longford Town FC (the game or match).  Longford Town FC won the Match 3-1.

The FAI initiated an investigation on the match after receiving a report from the UEFA Betting Fraud Detection System (BFDS), according to which there was “clear and overwhelming betting evidence that the course or result of this match was unduly influenced to gain corrupt betting profits.” The BFDS report stated...
