Football clubs have historically been established as non-profit civil associations in Argentina. Although there have been attempts to open legislation to other entities (such as sports corporations), associations and federations have always emphatically opposed this. Currently, there are no football clubs established in any form other than civil associations. Therefore, as non-profit entities, Argentinian clubs receive a different (preferential) tax treatment compared to commercial companies.
