FIFA Appeals Committee Confirms Luis Rubiales’ Ban


On 26 January 2024, the FIFA Appeals Committee confirmed the 3-year ban from all football-related activities on the former Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) President, Luis Rubiales, after the so-called “World Cup kissing scandal.” The FIFA Disciplinary Committee decided the initial ban on 30 October 2023.

During the celebration of Spain’s victory over England, Mr. Rubiales, back then RFEF President, gave Jenni Hermoso, striker of the Spanish national team and second-ranked at the 2021 Ballon d’Or Féminin, a kiss.
