What is ECA's position on the restart of competitions? What are the key principles that should guide the resumption of competitions?
Most top tier professional football leagues are now back in action across Europe, with some nearly completed. Sadly, the reality is that some have had to be called off. The UEFA Club Competitions, namely the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League, are envisaged to take place in August in revised formats designed to enable maximum space for domestic and national team football also to take place across the summer and into the autumn.
Competitions are the lifeblood of the game - economically and socially. Without compelling, competitive football, income sources and social currency dries up. From the start we have been focused on getting football up and running again as soon as it had been possible to do so...
