On 27 August 2024, the CONMEBOL Disciplinary Unit published its latest disciplinary decision, sanctioning the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) and several people associated with it concerning events during a 2024 Copa América game. A few days later, the aforementioned decision was published.
The CONMEBOL Disciplinary Unit sanctioned 11 Uruguayan international players and a staff member after he was found guilty of breaching several CONMEBOL disciplinary provisions during a Copa América game on 10 July 2024. The resulting sanctions are explained in detail below.
