CAF, 8 October 2014, JS Kabylie
On 23 August 2014, the Cameroonian player Albert Ebossé, striker of JS Kabylie, was hit by an object thrown from the stands. The 24-year old striker died a few hours later in hospital following a traumatic brain injury.
In light of their fight against hooliganism phenomena in Africa, the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the continental governing body for football in Africa, confirmed the principle of strict liability and adopted a new approach by imposing an additional sanction of a two-year ban from participating in all African competitions to the Algerian Club JS Kabylie due to the death of their Cameroonian Player Albert Ebossé during a "national league game".
