Panel 2 – Monday 17 June 2024, 14:30 – 17:00

Training young players in Africa

What are the specific provisions of national and international law that apply to minor players? What contracts can he sign? What are the legal mechanisms intended to protect him but also to deal with his incapacity in principle to contract?
Likewise, training centers and football academies in Africa are full of young talent, the fruit of their work in training and educating young players. But these centers and academies are exposed to numerous risks in the face of the desires of agents and other third parties who, at loose ends, try to poach young players. How can they protect their investments? What recourse do they have in the event of players being “poached” by third parties?
Through the analysis of the legal framework applicable to minor players (including the FIFA RSTP), and the sharing of the experiences of actors, the panel will aim to provide the tools protecting both minor players and training centers in Africa.
