Background
In 2013, a new Portuguese Law established the legal framework related to Sports Companies.
The establishment of those Companies arose from the need to provide clubs with adequate skills necessary to act in a modern football environment.
It was necessary to implement a more professional management for Portuguese clubs and transparent rules replacing guidance made only to achieve sports success, without paying due attention to the economic flows generated or needed to reach them.
This need was evident since the 1980s, with the generalized crisis experienced by European football clubs.
